We also hunt our dogs, using them in the field as they have been bred to do.  Goose, Pheasant, Waterfowl, Dove, Quail.  When a dog can perform in an HRC/AKC hunt test it shows that the bloodline is capable of preforming in the field when it counts.  HRC/AKC test and training often occur in the off season thus ensuring the dog is ready before they go into a hunt in the field.  It gives opportunity for the dog to work in hunt like conditions at a high standard of performance, to learn from mistakes and mature.  Not every Boykin can perform in the field and having one from a titled breeding shows that the parents were capable.
